We're Celebrating 43 Years as Central New Jersey's Premiere Design-Builder

The name Fenton comes from Joseph Fenton Mulcahy who founded the company in 1965. Fenton Construction quickly rose through the ranks to become Central New Jersey’s leading builder of industrial, commercial, religious, and educational structures. The company’s building achievements include facilities for L’Oreal USA, the Sterns Department Store in the Bridgewater Commons Mall; the high-tech renovation of the men’s and women’s locker rooms for the Rutgers University basketball teams, the Skylands Ice World in Hardyston Township, and the new Penske Truck Leasing facility in Parsippany. Currently Fenton is constructing a new worship center for Columbus Baptist Church, a new four court addition for Nassau Tennis in Montgomery Township and the new Urban Impact Athletic Center for Pillar of Fire Ministries in Zarephath.

From its early beginnings, housed in Mr. Mulcahy’s home with just two employees, Fenton Construction has grown into a medium sized general contractor ready to perform ground-up or interior projects. Fenton Construction has completed projects throughout New Jersey, Eastern Pennsylvania, and southern New York State. The company’s first project was an addition for the White Machine Company in Union, NJ. Prior to founding the company, Joseph Mulcahy was a project superintendent for B.J. Builders, Inc. In 1987 Michael J. Mulcahy took over as president of the family-owned and operated company. In 1972, the company was awarded a buildership from Butler Manufacturing Company, the premier supplier of pre-engineered building systems.

Building with Integrity

Fenton Construction has survived many economic growth and recession cycles over the years. Michael Mulcahy attributes this success to Fenton’s commitment to its motto “Building with Integrity”, and by treating each client with honesty and integrity. We recognize that excellent customer service is the key to long term success with our clients.

Each year Fenton constructs several new buildings. We construct both conventional and pre-engineered buildings. Our relationship with Butler Manufacturing Company gives our clients several important resources, including structural steel design services for buildings of all types. Expedited steel delivery and predictable erection costs are a direct result. Managing site work, foundations, concrete slabs, interior fit-outs, and overseeing the installation of fire protection, HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems are routine activities at Fenton.

Fenton Construction has developed an outstanding reputation for providing innovative solutions to our client’s unique needs. Our ability to act as a traditional general contractor, a construction manager, or a design-build contractor has helped us to deliver each project on time and within budget.

Building Toward the Future

To meet the demands of increasingly sophisticated projects, municipal approval permitting processes, safety awareness and OSHA regulations, Fenton has invested in advanced computer technology, training programs and employee education to maintain the company’s competitive edge. Fenton will continue to develop new clients from the pool of Fortune 500 companies located in New Jersey, as well as continue to pursue select smaller companies poised for expansion. Fenton continues to see strong growth in the pre-engineered building market, and will further target its primary geographic regions of Northern, central and Western New Jersey, with an emphasis on Somerset and Middlesex Counties.
